KOI - Kids of Indonesia is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the foundation are deductible under section 170 of the code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the code. We are classified as a public charity under code sections 170 (b)(1)(A) (vi) of the code.


Scott, Cate

Scott, son of Steve Cate, also lived in Indonesia for several years and at one time was fluent in the language. He is a graduate of Lubbock Christian University, has been in ministry for the last 20 years, has made several trips to the oversee the KOI ministry in Jakarta, and is chief fund-raiser for KOI at this time.

Steve lived in Indonesia for many years, speaks the language and has personal relationships with several of the people the foundation works with in Jakarta. He remains in almost daily contact with one of the leaders by means of videoconferencing through the Internet. In this way the use of foundation funds is being monitored on a daily basis. Steve has his bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University in Business Administration and Marketing. He also has a Master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Counseling Psychology.


Brett Cate,

Brett, son of Steve Cate, also lived in Indonesia for several years and at one time was fluent in the language. He is a graduate of Lubbock Christian University and is a Certified Public Account.


Jimmy Lumpkin,

Jimmy has a PhD from Fuller Theological Seminary and was a professor of theology at the Claremont Colleges in Claremont, California until his retirement. He remains an Elder in his church and is the author of at least two children’s books.


Janet Campbell,

Janet is a housewife and mother of three grown children. She served for many years as a youth minister in her church and is still very active in teaching children and working with young people. Her husband is an Elder in the church they attend.


Tom Allen,

Tom has an engineering degree from Cal Poly, Pomona, CA., but later in life changed careers and now serves as co-minister of a church in Southern California. He speaks Spanish fluently and has been active in benevolent works of various kinds in Central and South America for many years.
